PSG Edges Olympique de Marseille via Spot-Kicks to Secure Trophee des Champions Super Cup in the Middle East.

Trophy celebration scene

PSG has now secured the season-opening cup on fourteen different occasions.

The Parisian giants required a dramatic leveler followed by a perfect penalty shootout to get past their arch-rivals in the Gulf and secure a fourth straight Trophee des Champions title.

The Champions League holders appeared to be sailing towards a comfortable win in the match featuring the French league winners and the French Cup winners after the French winger opened the scoring early on.

However, the southern French side fired two times in the closing moments to seize a shock advantage. First, the English forward converted from the spot-kick, before the defender unfortunately turned the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a breathtaking twist of events, the Portuguese striker snatched a crucial equaliser in the dying moments to force the contest into a penalty shootout. PSG goalkeeper Chevalier then emerged as the key figure, stopping decisive attempts from Matt O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

In the shootout, Ramos, the midfielder, Nuno Mendes, and Desire Doue all converted successfully for Paris Saint-Germain to seal a convincing penalty win.

Now 14-time champions Paris Saint-Germain, who met last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Olympique de Marseille after completing a domestic double, have now won this competition for the twelfth time in the past 13 years.
